The Montessori bells are out in the environment now – just three stationary bells and three working bells. The student must put on a pair of gloves, use the mallet (to invite the bell to ring ) and the damper ( to quiet the bell.) The stationary bells (black and white, like piano keyboard ) stay in position and one working bell is lifted up to the level of the black and white bells. The working bell is invited to ring and its pitch is compared to a stationary bell. If the pitch matches, he/she places the working bell in front of the stationary bell that it matches. Ask your student, he/she will explain!
